The simple and original idea of relating the game´s opening to its ending is the central issue of this book which comprises two volumes. The first one is devoted to establishing a link in those games in which the opening move is 1e4 And the second book, with those starting with the move : 1d4. By analysing a selective collection of classic and modern games, the authors explain how the final movements that result from different openings should be made. They rightly transmit to the reader the logic of each opening or variant, underline their strategic value, point out the final, likely outcome and how one should play, depending on the chosen option. As the authors note in their introduction : “The purpose of this book is to help the player to evaluate the type of game ending (endgame) that typically results from a specific opening variant. We hope that by reading the book, he will find it easier to develop plans for both sides, to make faster decisions and to predict - with a certain degree of accuracy - that which might be expected at the end of a game associated with the variant in question.
This second volume covers the plans and game methods in those final stages of games arising from usage of the Queen´s Gambit, Indian Defences, English Opening and other Closed Systems. The material is organised according to the type of pawn structures and the strategy adopted by the Blacks.
